After carding a 66 on Friday at the 58th annual RBC Heritage, Savannah native Brian Harman said it took time to adjust to the nuances of the greens at Harbour Town Golf Links following recent renovations led by Davis Love III.
But it didn’t take long for the 2023 Open Champion to find his rhythm — and once again, he did so wearing his trusted Maxi Loop bracelet, a consistent part of his on-course setup.
Harman delivered his best-ever round at Harbour Town on Saturday, firing an outstanding 8-under-par 63, including a blistering back-nine 30, closing with three consecutive birdies. He moved to 13-under-par, tied for third, just four shots behind leader Matthew Fitzpatrick and one behind World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler late Saturday afternoon.
“I just tried to keep the pedal down. It’s going to take a low number to win. The weather is going to turn a little bit tomorrow, so it was nice to get out there with some good conditions,” said the 39-year-old left-hander. “I’m happy to be in a good spot. I had a tough start on Thursday but have battled back really nicely the last couple of days.”
Throughout the round, Harman’s performance — with his Maxi Loop bracelet clearly visible on his wrist — reflected confidence and control. From draining long birdie putts to precise iron play, he showed why he remains one of the most consistent players on Tour.
After taking Thursday to adjust, Harman found his touch on the greens.
“It took me a day to get them figured out,” he said. “We made a small setup change, and I’m hitting some really good putts now.”
He began building momentum early, draining an 18-footer on the par-5 second. Despite a bogey on the third, he bounced back with a 26-foot birdie on the fifth, followed by additional birdies at the sixth and ninth to make the turn in 33.
The back nine saw Harman elevate his game further. A pinpoint approach to six feet on the 10th set up another birdie, followed by a 15-footer on the 14th. He then stuck his approach tight on the 16th for a tap-in before producing the shot of the day at the iconic par-3 17th — holing a 30-foot bunker shot for birdie.
As Harman continues to feature prominently on global broadcasts, his choice to wear the Maxi Loop bracelet week in, week out reinforces its ongoing visibility at the highest level of the game — a rare and valuable presence on the PGA Tour.
