Yesterday saw the long-awaited finals of the 2017 Allam British Open, and TEAM:Z’s Nick Matthew and Laura Massaro were both playing for their respective titles in the famous Squash tournament.

Massaro vs Perry

First up was Laura Massaro, facing off against Sarah-Jane Perry, in the 3pm women’s final; the first all-English final since 1991. It was Massaro who took an early lead in the event with an impressive 11-8, 11-8 scorecard after two games. Having been pegged back in the third game, 33-year old Massaro went on to claim her second British Open win, becoming the first Englishwomen to claim the prestigious title since Janet Morgan in 1952. Speaking after the event, Massaro claimed that this was an even bigger win than her 2013 victory, given the added pressure of having already beaten Nicol David, the current world #1.

Matthew vs Gaultier

36-year old Nick Matthew rolled back the years in the men’s event, taking on Gregory Gaultier in a mouthwatering tie that left nothing to be desired. Despite his age Matthew, an avid wearer of our Copper Skin:z and Trion:Z products, put in a fine performance and went ahead in the first game. The record wasn’t to be however, with the Frenchman pulling back into the game in the following rounds, taking the crown for the third time.
